A Walk in the (Office) Park

I got a chance to shoot a virtual tour of an office park while autumn was in full bloom. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get the shots as the season was quite advanced, and the weather was not cooperating. I’ve canceled the shoot once already and the wind had blown a lot of the leaves off the trees. But as I arrived and walked the premises, I realized the scene would be spectacular.

Sure, I had to shoot some indoor office space, but the shot around the fountain and pond area was what I was really looking to capture. It’s the kind of scene that is best viewed as a 360º immersive image. Shooting it traditionally, with still photography, would require, minimally, 6 or so individual shots. And even then, the viewer would not really get the sense of the space.

The client did some work to the courtyard area as well, and viewing that scene in 360º puts you virtually there.

Another advantage is the use of full-screen Flash. Just about everybody has Flash installed on their computer these days. So using that technology to deliver this kind of content has made VR images extremely accessible. The images load fast and the motion is smooth. Anyone who has a unique space should really consider showcasing it as a virtual image.

If you get the oportunity, please take a look at the tour and let me know what you think.
